abandoned
A few weeks ago my mom sent me an email with a link to "The 33 Most Beautiful Abandoned Places" the only thing she wrote in the email was, "Things that have been abandoned, like your blog." Subtle, real subtle Mom. :)
But hey look, the hint worked!
I've been fascinated with these pictures ever since she sent me the link. As a child we lived in a house that had a huge stretch of woods behind it and right behind our house tucked in the overgrowth was the foundation to some sort of cabin or outbuilding. Oh, the fantasies I developed based off of those stacked stones, which I was convinced were once slave quarters.
Abandonment is interesting, there is always a story behind it. People don't abandon perfectly good things for no reason.
Here are a few of the places I found the most interesting.
Keelung Taiwan
Angkor Wat in Cambodia
El Hotel del Salto in Columbia
Russian Military Rocket Factory
Kolmanskop in the Namib Desert
Pripyat, Ukraine
North Brother Island, near NYC
Holland Island, Chesapeake Bay
OMG, I am the only one that is curious to death about these places???? I would love crawl around in there and explore, see what there is to see, you know, discover some hidden secrets!
Unfortunatley the website where we found these images doesn't give information on why they were abandoned, thank God for Google! If you're curious there are 25 more beautiful abandoned places to check out!
Happy Tuesday!
